The Maritime Gig is an annual event that takes place in Downtown Gig Harbor in the first weekend of June.
The Maritime Gig Festival is Gig Harbor's signature summer event! This event is a kick-off to the summer and the many enjoyable events that take place throughout the harbor.
It features a variety of local crafters, businesses and a big parade down the main street of town.
The festival was created by businesses in Gig Harbor as a way to give back to the community. Over 20,000 people attend the event each year.

Highlights include: getting to help feed the crabs and sea anemones in the touch tanks (around 3:00), viewing the underwater camera and the sand box. The sand box is designed to let people build mountains, valleys etc. Then you hold your hand over one spot for a minute and blue patches appear to indicate rain and to show which way the water would flow.
